Global Education Agenda 2030
Education is an integral part of UNESCO’s global mission to build peace, eradicate poverty and drive sustainable development. The Organization is the only United Nations agency with a mandate to cover all aspects of education. It has been entrusted to lead a wide range process of consultations between all Member States and key stakeholders on the Global Education 2030 Agenda, defined as Goal 4 of all 17 Sustainable Development Goals. The SD Goal 4 “Ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all” outlines a new and ambitious vision for achieving sustainable progress in education over the next 15 years. It is based on the idea of education which transforms lives. The main focus of the Global Education 2030 Agenda is on the equitable and quality education, inclusion and gender equality, vulnerable groups and lifelong learning opportunities for all. The Global goal 4 consists of 10 targets. The roadmap to achieve them is the Education 2030 Framework for Action, adopted in November 2015, which provides guidance to governments and partners on how to turn commitments into action.
